An example of fear in the novel is when Goober is refusing to speak up about the mistake in the chocolates he's actually sold. Goober doesn't want to speak up because he's scared what will happen to him if he stands up for himself. He doesn't want to stand out. Goober is intimidated by the idea of disturbing the universe because of the unknown and the consequnces that may follow. His fear holds him back from expressing how he really feels about the Chocolate sale and about the evil power imbalances he sees in trinity.
